Final Challenge - Kerryn's December 2011 and Farewell

All good things must come to an end.  To end this blog,  I would have to start from the beginning.  I have started this blog together with Jessy which you all know as Teacher Jessy. The whole purpose of this blog was to attract more attention to and provide a platform for Malaysian scrapbookers.  To this day,  I honestly feel that we have achieved what we need to achieve.  Scrapbooking is catching on in Malaysia and some of our Malaysian designers have made it to the international.  For me,  due to my family commitments,  I would like to concentrate on my other pursuits such as painting,  cooking and photography and hence, it is time to bid adieu to this Challenge Blog.

I would like to personally thank all that have supported us through the years especially all the my DTs,  sponsors and our loyal participants since our conception in April 2009.  This will be our challenge on this blog and we would like to see more participants so that we go out with a BANG!  Last month,  we had a record of 15 entries.  For that,  we all at Scrap-It-Lah would like to thank you for making us a success last month.

This month,  we bring you another very talented scrapbooker from the Down Under.  We hope that you will enjoy her challenge as much as all the DTs had. Here she is:

Hi, I’m Kerryn.
I live in sunny (most of the time) South Australia with my husband and two children (well three if you count the dog!). I have been scrapbooking for about 4 ½ years now. It is a hobby that I love with a passion that has been good to me in so many ways. I have made many wonderful friends through this hobby too. I don’t have a particular style as such but I love layers, I love distressing and I love concentrating on the details. I switch between 12x12 and 8.5x11 depending on
which way the wind is blowing. Having both a son and a daughter means I get to indulge in pretty,
girly layouts as well as grungy, fun boy layouts.

Thank you very much Scrap it Lah for having me as your guest this month.

Debbi Tehrani's November Challenge

It's November and we have lined up another exciting challenge for you.  This time,  Helen has found us another very talented designer and she is non-other than Debbi Tehrani.  Here is a write-up of Debbie:

Hi, everyone! I'm Debbi Tehrani.

I live in Maryland with my husband, Farzad. We celebrated our 30th anniversary this year.  We have no children, but we have three cats and a bearded dragon. (The beardie accompanies me to school, where I teach fifth grade.)
I've been scrapping for about a decade. I love telling stories on my pages.
I scrap 8 x 8, which poses some special challenges because I like to put lots of stuff on my pages, plus photo(s) and story, but I adore this size!
For me, scrapbooking is a creative outlet and a way to capture and celebrate all the random little things that make my life special and meaningful.
I love a good challenge, and I've been on the design team of several challenges, including Creative Scrappers, Color Combos Galore,
How Much Is Too Much, Creative Prompts for You, and Scrap Yourself.
I'm also on the design team at Work in Progress kits.
I've been lucky to have my pages published in BHG Scrapbooks, Etc., Scrapbook Trends, and Simple Scrapbooks.
If you'd like to take a peek at some more of my pages, please visit my blog, Little Scraps of Magic.
I'd like to thank Helen for inviting me to play along at Scrap-it-Lah! It's been great fun and an honor to be here!

We at SIL would like to thank Debbi for sharing her talent with us and without further ado,  here is Debbi's challenge details:

All layouts must please incorporate the following
{thereafter any extras may be added}
 1. Layers - at least 6
2.  Stamping and/or embossing
3. Tags or journaling cards incorporated into your design
(not necessarily used to journal on but can be if you choose)

This is Debbi's beautiful creation.

Helen incorporated the fall colours into her layout.

Amelia as usual dazzles us with her shabby chic layouts.

Fon Mee scrapped a very bold layout using doileys and pink - very unconventional colour and embellishment for her son's layout.

Helene scraps this absolutely cute layout!

We just love DT Yatie's layout of her daughter Nadiah in her beautiful baby blue traditional outfit.

DT Azura send us this very cute layout.

If you chose to participate,  this is the RAK that is up for grabs.  Presenting another very beautiful Studio Calico Tatting Kit which is available from Scrappin Studio here:

Helen's September Create Your Own Background Challenge

Another month has just flown by and another month is starting anew with another brand new challenge here at Scrap-It-Lah.  This month,  we are pleased to announce that our in house DT - Helen has come up with another brilliant challenge for you. Before we get to the challenge,  here are some information on Helen for you.

My name is Helen Tilbury & I live in Durban, South Africa, with my scrap-tolerant husband Shane & our four children – Chelsea (18), Jack (16),Reilly (13) and Cami (11). I love all things paper-related and am also a keen photographer. I’ve been paper-crafting for 8 years now am showing no signs of stopping any time soon! In fact I have enough stash to start a store so I’m going to be scrapping the rest of my life just to get my money’s worth out of it.

When I’m not taking photos, scrapbooking or blogging I’m doing stuff with the kids, taking them to their activities; extra lessons, sports matches or  sleepovers! I love connecting with other bloggers from all over the world love that I have a huge bunch of online friends ; hope to travel the world one day and visit them all. When I’m not pursuing my passions or doing my “mum” job I love to relax with a magazine ; eat a delicious meal prepared by my hubs, who is a great chef…yes! I’m a lucky girl!!

Currently I am designing for Colour Combos Galore, Inspired Blueprints, Once Upon a Sketch, Bird is the Word, Scrapbook Kits with Jules, Pretty Paper Petals and Scrap-it-Lah. You can find my blog @ http://helentilbury.blogspot.com.

Back to the challenge now and a Big Thank you for Helen for such a creative challenge.  You will  be pleased to know that you had some of your fellow DTs step out of their comfort zone for this challenge.  :)  Don't we all like a good challenge once in a  while?  For more information on Helen and her beautiful works of art,  please head over to her blog here.

Before we start with the challenge details,  we would like to announce some 5 simple new rules when participating in our challenge:

5 Simple Rules for playing along at Scrap-it-Lah Challenges

1.       Please create a NEW layout for each challenge but you are welcome to combine with other challenges, as long as your layout was specifically designed with Scrap-it-Lah in mind and created AFTER the challenge details were posted!

2.       Please remember to mention Scrap-it-Lah somewhere in your blog post; create a link back to the correct challenge post at Scrap-it-Lah.

3.       Please include the challenge requirements within your blog post – you are welcome to copy; paste these off the Scrap-it-Lah blog.

4.       Please also mention the deadline the challenge ends and let everyone know what prize is up for grabs!

5.       Remember, you must be a follower of the Scrap-it-Lah blog to be “in with a chance to win”

Without further ado, here are the specifics of Helen's challenge:

Create your own mixed media background, using printed paper as a base.  Be sure to include at least 3 different paint colours in whatever effects you fancy. This can be using stamps,  bubble wrap,  etc etc - its all up to your imagination.

Also ensure that you have at least twelve words on your layout, which can include the title, date (if you want to include one) and the journaling (or even be one REALLY long title if you like!)

Here is Helen's take on the challenge:

DT Azura played it so well with her paints.

DT Helene claims to out of her comfort zone in this layout but Helene - its such a stunning layout. If you were out of your comfort zone,  it's really not showing.

DT Fon Mee artsy take is another pleaser.

DT Nad "grunged" her layout but still managed to add some softness with the butterflies and flowers.

DT Yatie's take is a bright and striking layout with her use of bold colours.

DT Amelia played it so well with so many elements in her layout.

Are you inspired yet?  Check out below for the potential RAK that you will win if you take part in this challenge.  We have selected the Studio Calico Debate Team Kit as the winning RAK. Getting excited already?  All you have to do is to link your layout below and leave us a comment to join in the challenge.  What are you waiting for?  Start scrapping today!
