March Mood Board Layout

Another new month,  another new challenge.  This month we would like to present you with our very first MOOD BOARD layout challenge.  We know - some of you are going like, "HUH?" "What is a mood board?"

Here is an explanation on what a mood board is... Here is the explanation of a mood board in the Wikipidea here.  To translate it into scrapbooking theme - here is the explanation on what it is on the squidoo here.

We would like to challenge you to come up with a mood board layout of any theme in a 12 x 12 inch layout which is to be submitted to us by Thursday, 31st March,  2011 at midnight Malaysian time.

Our DTs have all come up with different variations of the mood boards for your viewing pleasure and here they are in random order:

Amelia's mood layout defines who she is in a very definitive way.  She is a wife,  a mom and busy strong woman.

On a softer side,  Jessy displays her fondness for all things shabby in her mood layout. Love the little elements which she has added to the layout.

New mom Nad professes her love for her daughter Zara in her multi-photo mood layout - isn't little Z cute?  Congrats Nad on your newborn little girl.

Sharm expresses her hopes and dreams for her little one in this very whimsical mood layout.

Wati "schooled" her mood layout with alphabets and numbers as her little Prince has just started school.

Yatie added lots and lots of her daughter's favourite elements in her mood board - including hijacking N's crayons - hilarious!

Michelle documented all the words that her daughter says of her IDOL Justin Beiber.

Here is the RAK that we are offering this month.  Interested?  Do send us a submission this month and it may be yours!

We are just wondering what kind of mood layout will you present for submission?  Do share them with us at the link below or email us at chowchow138@gmail.com.

February No-Red-Or-Pink Valentine's challenge 2011

Hello, hello everyone!! Today I’ll be posting the challenge in place of DT Michelle as she is away at the moment. January seemed to have passed by in a breeze and we now enter the month of February. First of all, let me take this moment to wish a very Happy Chinese New Year to all those celebrating around the world. May the new year brings much happiness and prosperity to you and your family.

As usual, February brings us the month of LUURRVEEEE.... And each year the theme is always LOVE for February and you'll see manufacturers left, right and center brings out Valentine's themed collections. There are almost always red or pink or shades of the two colours. This year for February, our DT Nadia has come up with something different. The challenge is to make a layout (12x12 or 8.5x11) with a lovey-dovey theme WITHOUT USING ANY REDS OR PINKS OR ANY SHADE OF THE TWO COLOURS. How's that for a not-so-typical Valentine's challenge?

First up is DT Nadia’s lovely layout of her and her hubby
welcoming their new baby girl, Zara.

Next is DT Amelia’s layout dedicated to her hubby with
her amazing cut work.

DT Jessy brings you a beautiful layout of her and her hubby with
gorgeous stamping, misting and masking effect.

DT Sharm came out with this dreamy layout of her
and her hubby that makes you feel like
they are in paradise.

DT Wati shares a simple layout and yet it focuses your
eyes on the beautiful photos of her and her hubby.

DT Yatie created a vintage layout with a touch
of romance, featuring her and her hubby.

DT Michelle shares a layout on sibling
love using Oriental themes.

Here is the RAK that we are offering this month.  Interested?  Do send us a submission this month and it may be yours!

So what LOVE are you celebrating this month? Let us know. Remember that Valentine’s is a celebration of all kinds of love. Share with us your no-red-or-pink layouts.

January Hobby Challenge 2011

Hello 2011.  We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and we hope that you will have a blessed year.  As with everything new,  we would like to welcome on board another new member to our Design Team - she is non other than Sharmandeswari. To view more of Sharman's beautiful works of art,  please visit her personal blog here.

Now on to the challenge - With each coming month,  we continue to unveil our latest challenge - this month courtesy from our DT Coordinator Yatie.

Here is the challenge details:

Do you know that January is the NATIONAL HOBBY MONTH? Isn't it great that we have a whole month to indulge in our hobbies? Well, technically anyways. So for January, I would like for you to make a 12x12 or 8.5 x 11 layout on your OTHER hobby(ies) apart from scrapbooking. The twist of the challenge is that you have to INCLUDE SOME KIND OF ELEMENT OF YOUR HOBBY in the layout, not counting the photo. e.g. like me, I like beading so I can include beads in the layout. Or if you like swimming, then a water element should be included say a stamped or doodle of waves. Or if your hobby is shopping you can include tags from your purchases.
Here is DT Yatie's take on the challenge.  She has very cleverly added elements of her other hobby which is beading onto her layout making it such a unique piece of work.

DT Amelia with her Jazzercise routine packs a punch with so much energy with the numbers and photos.

Listening to music is another hobby of DT Jessy's and she has very cleverly used some music scores to emphasize her hobby.

Need we say more with DT Nad's take?  A self-professed shopaholic with her tags and photos of her shopping - she has a lady's ultimate favourite hobby scrapped there.  :)

Sharman debuts with a beautiful romantic layout which reflects on her favourite hobby which is reading romantic novels and beach getaways.  Love the intricate work here.

DT Wati has caught the travelling bug and we love the way she has included her air ticket stub and stamp in her misted layout.

Photography is DT MIchelle's other favourite hobby.  She has included a self-made camera with herself in the lens in her take on the challenge.

What is your take on this challenge?  We look forward to learning more on your other hobbies than scrapbooking and here is the RAK generously donated by DT Yatie.
