Iris' August 2011 Challenge

For the month of August, we have yet another Guest Artiste coming up with a challenge. She is non other than the talented Iris Babao Uy.

Here is a little something about Iris:
"I am a scrapper from The Philippines, a wife and a mother to two sweet girls Nicole who is turning 6 years old, and Cheska who is turning two years old. I rarely plan my pages – I let a photo or a patterned paper inspire me and I take it from there. I love the shabby chic and romantic style but I also enjoy working with bold patterns and striking colors. I’m an ink and paint type of person. I just have to get it a little messy to consider my page done. If I don’t have ink and paint on hand, then I just tear little bits of elements and stick it randomly for the sheer fun of it

I am fortunate to be designing for Webster’s Pages, Fancy Pants Designs, and Lily Bee Designs. I was also named as one of the first two Prima Masters. I am also currently a designer for a wholesale store in Australia – Aussie Scrapsource. One of the things I consider to be among my accomplishments in crafting industry have been named as one of the 2008 Memory Makers Magazine Masters and I am thankful for the blessings which have come my way as an artist and will continue to be thankful for the happiness and fulfillment that I get from this craft.
"

Iris has given us an awesome challenge. She wants you to have "three things in your layout... stamping, embossing, and misting. Plus there must be at least one raw chipboard to dress up". Here is Iris' beautiful sample layout:

The DTs has also come out with stunning layouts all.

Issa's July Challenge

This month,  we are excited to be able to invite Issa to be our guest artiste and she has come up with a nice challenge for us.  Issa is not a stranger to the Asian scrapping scene having served on some Asian Scrapping Sites as DT and she is a very seasoned scrapper. Here is some information on Issa in her own words:

My name is Issa Virtucio-Lucido and I'm from Laguna, Philippines. I'm a Mom to Luis Lauro Antonio and Lucian Lorenzo Roberto and married for 18 years to Dodo Lucido, a Government Aquaculturist. I work as a college Instructor teaching business courses.

I am a certified Scrapaholic and an addict Scrapbooker since 2005. I started making pages in 1993 when my first child was born, not knowing that what I was doing was called scrapbooking. It was in 2003 when I met my bestfriend Timi and taught me the basics of this craft. Since then it became my deepest passion. I don't really know my style but I love sewing, paper tearing and painting. As of now, I am so eager to try new and different styles and learn more about this wonderful hobby. And since I have two sons to scrap, I fell in love with masculine yet dainty layouts.

I am so grateful to be here to share some inspiration and to learn more things about our love for scrapping. Happy scrapping everyone!

Issa has a very interesting challenge for us this month.  Here are her challenge criterias:
All mothers love to scrap their little darlings and we often forget scrapping about ourselves! Here's a little challenge to eventually scrap those hidden photos of yours Mommies...

Do share a multi-photo layout for the month of July! Challenge is

1) at least 5 photos in one layout which means the layout must be multi-pics. There must be 5 visible photos in it
2) Photos must be a mixture of black and white and coloured photos please
3) There should be visible journalling on the layout.

I want to share this layout where I used photos of mine taken since March of this year. You can noticed that I was smiling all the time and I can't help but say that I am HAPPY! So share us you takes ladies!

June 2011 - Thing/s You Can't Live Without Challenge

Welcome to our first reveal by our latest DTs.  We are so excited to have fresh new talents on board and we look forward to more exciting beautiful work from them.  This month - we have another simple challenge for you:

The topic of this challenge is :  "Thing/s I can't do Without."

We would like to challenge you to scrap about the thing or things that you can't do without. It may be something tangible or intangible and we thought it would be nice if you can put it down onto paper on what you can't live without.

Here are the DTs' takes on the challenge:

DT Amelia : She says it quite simply that she really cannot live without her daily dose of caffeine  :)

DT Fon Mee lists down all the items that she needs in a day on an elegant layout.

DT Nad says that communication is the key and she simply can't live without her blackberry and Ipad.

DT Yatie does an emotional take - citing that she can't live without her daughter's smile.  Awww..... how sweet.

DT Helene basks in her love and she simply can't live without her hubby's hugs.  Sweet love...

We love DT Azura's tic tac toe-ish take on the challenge complete with tiny photos of what she cannot live without.

DT Helen expresses her love in such a sweet layout.  Love how the layout is full of photos yet it doesn't look cluttered.

We hope that you are totally inspired with these new talented and returning DTs.  We have prepared this RAK for you below and please do read our challenge rules as conditions for participation do apply:

New DT Announcement and We will be back in June

A very very BIG Thank you to all the applicants for our DT positions.  We would love to take all of you but unfortunately,  we can't.  However,  we would like to thank those who have tried out and here are the chosen DTs for our next Term June - December 2011.  Here they are in no particular order:

Hi! My name is Azura Alyssa. I am from the sunny island of Singapore. I am down to earth, cheerful and loud. I always have crazy and fun ideas. My life circles around those who are close to me especially my family, my friends and of course my boyfriend. They are everything to me and they always end up being the subjects to my scraps. Scrapbooking is now a part of who I am. Its my own little retreat of being artsy fartsy. It makes me happy and that is all that matters. Being on the team is an honor for me. I wish that throughout my term I will keep you inspired and you will inspire me as well. Thank you.

Hi! My name is Helene Siermans but I call myself Nick. It was my hubby who started to call me that. Why? Well maybe I´ll tell you one day. I have two kids. I adore them and they always make me smile. I live in Sweden in a small village. And finally I got myself a private scraproom. Yes dreams can come true... I´ll hope to inspire you here at SIL and  I am looking forward to meet a lot of wonderful crafters from all over the world.

Hi there, I'm from Sabah - The land below the wind. I've started scrapbooking in 2007 and never turn back since and never stop creating. I don't have a specific style but love to trying out new ideas, new products and play with colors. I also like mini album which is a good escape for those photos of mine that have no place for scrapbook layout. I'm a working mom and basically only be able to scrap during my free time such as after my boys went to bed or weekend.

My name is Helen Tilbury & you can find my blog @ http://helentilbury.blogspot.com. I live in Durban, South Africa.
The weather is more often than not hot & humid & you can find me tinkering away in my little home studio with my air-conditioning set to 21 degrees Celsius!
I have a wonderful & tolerant husband who allows me to pursue my vocation liberally & we share 4 precious children aged 17, 16, 13 &10, plus 3 over-indulged fur babies (cats!).
I am currently part of the Challenge Design Team at Scrapbook Challenges sketch/challenge-based Ning community, Inspired Blueprintssketch-based Ning community,
Once Upon a Sketch sketch/journaling blog, Bird is the Word word-based challenge blog & Pretty Paper Petals Australian flower & embellishment manufacturer.
I am a work-at-home mum & could always make an extra buck as a taxi-driver as my kids have me driving all over the province regularly for sports matches & social activities!
I am a fashion designer by profession but my love of scrapbooking & photography has long since super ceded my love of fabrics.
I have enjoyed an enduring affair with pretty paper & embellishments for 7 years now & can't imagine a life without the smell of new papers & the anticipation of my next delivery of scrapbooking goodies in the mail!
I don't believe in labelling my style as I design to suit the mood & subjects of my pages but I endeavour to always push my creative limits & constantly grow with my craft.

Headshots and write-up will be along later as Louise is unwell at the moment.  We would like to wish Louise a speedy recovery and we can't wait for her to share her creations with us here soon.

With every new DT announcement, there are also some Goodbyes to be said to our "Retiring" DTs.  We would like to thank Jessy,  Wati, Sharm and Michelle for being on the team and we wish them well in their future endeavours.

Look out for our next challenge in June and we will be back then with new reveals from our latest team.
